Mercury Marine is excited to unveil its state-of-the-art Mercury Marine Training Centre. Marking the company’s first facility of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region. Situated in Dandenong South, Victoria, the new centre plays a key role in training marine technicians. Equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and the confidence needed to deliver exceptional service.
Furthermore, it ensures that technicians stay at the forefront of marine technology. Thereby preparing them to meet the ever-growing demands of the evolving industry. In addition, this focus on innovation not only positions technicians to adapt quickly to future advancements. But also empowers them to lead the way in the rapidly changing marine sector. As a result, the training centre provides technicians with a comprehensive foundation, enabling them to thrive in a competitive market.
The Mercury Marine Training Centre offers an immersive, hands-on learning environment. Focused on the latest Mercury Outboard and MerCruiser engine technologies. Trainees deepen their expertise in advanced diagnostics, electrical and propulsion systems, and engine maintenance, all under the guidance of expert instructors. The facility replicates a top-tier Mercury service centre, setting a new standard for technical excellence and customer service.
“Our goal in opening this Training Centre has long been to ensure that our marine technicians are fully equipped to provide outstanding service to our customers,” said Trevor Henri, Senior Field Service Manager. “This centre offers a unique, comprehensive, hands-on approach to learning. Technicians will gain mastery over Mercury’s latest outboard and MerCruiser engine systems, guided by industry experts.”
The centre features the latest diagnostic tools, enabling technicians to work with a full range of Mercury engines. From compact, portable models to advanced V10 and V12 Outboards. With space for 12 technicians per course, small class sizes provide a more personalized experience and greater hands-on exposure to the products.
As part of its commitment to addressing the shortage of skilled marine technicians, Mercury is launching an industry transition program. This innovative initiative provides a streamlined pathway for individuals eager to join this in-demand field.
The training centre offers flexible learning options, including a three-day block course focused on either outboard or MerCruiser engines, as well as a five-day combined course. In addition, these courses are available monthly during the training season, which runs from 1 April to 31 October. As a result, technicians have numerous opportunities to choose a schedule that best suits their needs. Allowing them to enhance their skills at their own pace. By offering both short and comprehensive courses, the centre ensures that technicians can gain targeted expertise or a more holistic understanding. Depending on their goals. This flexibility not only caters to various learning preferences but also maximises opportunities for professional development throughout the training season.
With the rapid evolution of the marine industry, Mercury Marine is committed to equipping technicians. With the expertise and skills needed to excel in their roles,” Trevor said. “Moreover, this world-class facility guarantees that Mercury dealers and service providers access the best training available, ultimately strengthening Mercury Marine’s reputation for quality, performance, and innovation.
